LCH.Clearnet bags FX clearing house award
In the inaugural award for best FX clearing house, LCH.Clearnet is voted top for the successful launch of ForexClear, which has cleared roughly 23,000 trades over the past eight months.
Central clearing, driven by new regulation, has been a major issue in the foreign exchange market for several years. While there is still a great deal of work to be done before clearing becomes an integral part of the post-trade world for parts of the FX market, 2012 has seen some modest volumes cleared through central counterparties (CCPs), and LCH.Clearnet wins FX Week's inaugural award for best FX clearing house.

Many in the industry suspect there will eventually be consolidation in the over-the-counter clearing space, but few predicted that trend would begin before mandatory clearing regulations even came into effect. If LCH.Clearnet’s acquisition of International Derivatives Clearing Group (IDCG) goes ahead, though – and many believe an announcement is imminent – it will open a new chapter for the fast-evolving sector.
